KK Outlet is one of the more unconventional spaces in London and, perhaps owing to its restrictive dimensions, the gallery is forever devising new and interesting ways of exhibiting work.

For one exhibition, Brazilian artists faxed drawings through to the Outlet, their work feeding out of a machine positioned in the gallery’s window. Another show featured Kodak moment-style shots by artist Matt Stuart, which were curated in such a way that viewers could follow the trail of works from the studio in the front right through to the, usually off-limits, office in the back. On this occasion I found myself reading the charming captions assigned to each image, while leaning over the desks of the galleries directors, who were oblivious, absorbed in their work.

Such is the relaxed atmosphere of the gallery that it resonates as a warm and inviting space, one where friendly strangers might ask your opinion of a piece and attractive assistants take the time to explain the off-beat concept of the gallery to anybody who shows an interest. It also offers a nice selection of books and other interesting editions for sale. T-shirts hang from the ceiling and the shelves are packed full of trinkets that you want to take home, if it weren’t for the price tag.
