There should be a warning before you enter this shop, because there is a very real danger that you will spend a large amount of money on something(s) that you really don’t need, whether it be a flip book of x-rays, a solar-powered robot or an ashtray full of knitted cigarettes.
These editions, artist multiples and bizarrely innovative objects are, according to the shops founder Eta Ilfeld, the wares of the most distinct emerging talent in art and design. In other words they cost about 80% more than you would imagine by just looking at them. That said, many of the products, which incidentally are brought to you directly from the artisans themselves, are far more affordable than those found in gallery gift shops.
Whether or not you are looking to buy, however, the shop is well worth a look at, with its artist curated window installations and shelves of curiosities. There is also a decent selection of magazines and books to browse.
